The first post I did for this wedding featured images I knew the couple were after. But on wedding days, there are a few that Pasquale and I will shoot for ourselves, because the images called us. We don’t choose these images; these images ask for our attention, and then they decide their own style and colours. Sometimes when we are trying to stick to the client’s mood board or colour palette, these whispering images get sacrificed—and this particularly frustrates Pasquale. Pasquale does not like styles and presets; both of us believe the moment chooses, and creativity has to have freedom to make magic. These are some of our favourites. Logan and Jake requested all colour images. When Pasquale showed me the first image the night of the wedding, he replied to my frown with, “There was nothing I could do; it had to be like that, and there are more than enough colour pictures.” I decided to include it in the teasers delivered the night of the wedding. Logan posted it. Moral of the story: give your wedding photographer a little freedom, because that’s where the magic lies. Please note photographers tagged in their photo. Our hearts were filled with gratitude, since the day before had been stormy and more storms were predicted for the next day. So we didn’t dare complain about the heat. These two adorable humans were so much fun and willing to put in the effort to make the most of the day. When you have clients who are enthusiastic and a joy to be around, magic follows them—we just need to capture it. The dress and the shoes had me a little obsessed. I love the movement and lightness of that dress. Wait till you see how Mhairi dances in part two. I didn’t know at this point the day would just keep getting better.
